Serbilind (meaning “head high” in Kurdish) is an experimental short film directed by Berivan Cemal, exploring identity, womanhood, and cultural inheritance.
Blending documentary, dreamscape, and self-portraiture, the film follows the artist’s journey across the landscapes of Kurdistan and the Netherlands, questioning love, belonging, and the meaning of Jin, Jiyan, Azadî (Woman, Life, Freedom).
A cinematic reflection on growing up between worlds, and the struggle to remain whole while honoring both the women who came before and the woman yet becoming.
